U.S. air strikes kill more than 170 ISIS militants in Mosul
2015-09-25
[ARA] More than 170 gunnies of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....

during Arclight airstrikes by the U.S.-led coalition, activists reported on Thursday.

Warplanes of the international coalition bombed the districts of Bab Jdeed, Mansoura and Sinaa Qadimah in Mosul. The targets had recently witnessed intensive military activities by the ISIS radical group.

"The targeted districts include main ISIS headquarters," media activist Abu al-Hakam told ARA News in Mosul. "The coalition hit direct targets for ISIS killing and wounding hundreds of gunnies in two days."

"The hospitals of Mosul received corpses of 171 ISIS members on Thursday. They were all killed during the Arclight airstrikes," he said. "Dozens others were killed during operations by Iraqi forces near Baiji, south of Mosul."

A medical source in Mosul confirmed the death of dozens of ISIS gunnies after being hardly injured during the strikes on Thursday.

ISIS has silently buried 66 bodies of its gunnies in a mass grave in the western countryside of Mosul, the source told ARA News.

This comes only two days after the Lion of Islam group bombed the airport of Mosul and the military bases of Rafidain and Baghdadi in Tel Afar, in an attempt to prevent Iraqi army from using them in the expected anti-ISIS military campaign in Mosul.

ISIS has been fortifying Mosul city for months in preparation for a potential military campaign by the Iraqi army forces, which have vowed earlier to retake the city from the Death Eater group in cooperation with the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and the U.S.-led coalition.

The Iraqi army has recently taken over Baiji area south of Mosul after fierce battles with ISIS fighters.
