| U.S. air strikes kill more than 170 ISIS militants in Mosul |

ISIS has been fortifying Mosul city for months in preparation for a potential military campaign by the Iraqi army forces, which have vowed earlier to retake the city from the Death Eater group in cooperation with the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and the U.S.-led coalition. The Iraqi army has recently taken over Baiji area south of Mosul after fierce battles with ISIS fighters. |
