Germany to reinstate border controls
2015-09-14
Longer piece at AFP if you want details.
• Germany reinstates border controls
• Move breaches EU's open-borders Schengen agreement
• Interior minister says refugees cannot simply choose EU country to protect them
• German rail says trains to and from Austria halted for 12 hours
• Germany to send 2,000 riot police down to Bavaria
Will any of this stop people from walking across the fields and through the woods to cross borders away from the guarded points?
• 10,000 refugees arrive in Austria in last 24 hours
Complete with obligatory woman and child pic at the web site, and no mention of the tens of thousands of young, virile, strong, tough stormtroopers men coming into their countries.

A gentle suggestion: round up the hard boyz, send them to separate refugee centers, and give them a choice: accept conscription into the new EU Foreign Legion and, after suitable training, return to Syria to fight for their country, or board a plane for a one way trip to Mauritania.

#28  No, the Saudis don't want them because they have terrorists mixed in with them.

#27  Round them up and send them to Saudi Arabia.

#26  Kurds, yes. I could see them conquering Iraq and Syria, then leaving most of both strictly alone.

And it must be acknowledged that just as Al Nusra is slightly less evil than ISIS, Assad is not nearly as evil as either. Likewise, Putin is not nearly as evil as either jihadi group, if only because current conditions do not allow it.

#24  In Syria there is no "good side".

Sort of like the East Front in WWII. "If Hitler invaded hell I would make at least a favourable reference to the devil in the House of Commons." - Winston Churchill

#23  None of the regular Oktoberfest attendees will be able to get there, due to the swarms of refugees. But I don't guess too many of them will be crowding the bier tents.

#22  These yoot's don't look like the type to be suiting up in Lederhosen to march in the Octoberfest opening day parade.

#21  If they do not get lots of benefits for going to Germany they will not go to Germany. They are picking the most comfy place to have someone care for them so they live off the Kafir.

Pass a law saying if you can't prove residency from prior to x date you get no bennies. They'll stop coming. Do it now because the if you wait too long and you'll get riots as they feel entitled.

Took that page right out of the Obama WH style book.

#17  I think the only people who think Obama is in opposition to Putin, or vice-versa, are the ones sucking Obama's dick and the ones sucking Putin's.

#15  I do make a sharp distinction between humans and religion. Most Muslims actually are Muslims like Christians are Christians: There were just born this way.

Once religion turns into a fanatic cult, humans adhering to this cult become a problem.

Most people arriving in Munich actually fled from islamism Pol Pot style. And just because you are a young man doesn't mean that you come with the intention to blow something up. Those who I have met want to study, to work, to contribute, they don't want to be a burden on society.

Of course EU refugee policy is deeply flawed. The problem is, a Syrian arriving in Germany is still a refugee, but he's actually "lost" the political part of his refugee status because he has traveled through several "safe" states. These refugees want to come to Germany because they think they have more opportunities to make it here than in Hungary or Greece.

I'd actually prefer to help Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon to accommodate the Syrian refugees in the region. We also need to shame the rich Gulf states into taking their share.

The EU could set up a plan to allow (some) of those refugees into the EU, those who are qualified, those who can be an asset, all this after careful vetting.

Merkel's refugee policy is not the way to go. I can see 100000 or 200000 qualified refugees as an asset, but not millions.

#11  Trying to shift the argument again, Besoeker. Haven't you figured it out yet? Nowadays Transnational Progressivism is the danger (like Nazism or Communism before), and---what used to be USA---is firmly under Tranzi heel (c.f. both Pery & Walker are out of the race).

#10  Klik here for some vintage 1990 East German/Former Soviet Union 'realism/pragmatism' as it applied to the State of Israel some 42 years after gaining independence.

#5  Vlad will take no cards. Thanks to Obama, he's holding a royal flush. Destabilize the region by raising the ante in Syria and pushing the miscreant thugs into the heart of Europe. The Russians wrote the book on demographic redistribution.

Did Russia loudly condemn the East European countries for refusing to take the vermin?

#1  Of course this will not stop the flow, maybe slow it down somewhat. This is little more than a message to the rest of Europe.

I'd personally know a hundred ways to cross freely between Austria and Germany.

we simply can't have daily trains with 10000 refugees arriving at Munich Central Station. Oktoberfest will start on Saturday.
