Peshmerga forces regain eight villages near Kirkuk, 36 ISIS militants killed
2015-09-13
[ARA] Iraqi Kurdish forces of the Peshmerga on Friday seized eight new villages near Kirkuk after fierce battles against the radical group of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS).

The Peshmerga has reportedly shelled ISIS strongholds in the Daquq district south of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
forcing the turbans to withdraw from some eight villages in the area.

Speaking to ARA News, a source form the Peshmerga said their forces launched a "strategic operation" against the myrmidon group, by shelling "tactical units" of ISIS with heavy artillery and mortars.

"Our operation has caused heavy losses in ISIS' ranks on Friday, where dozens of turbans were killed, forcing the terrorist group to withdrew from several areas," the source said.

The Kurdish forces found the corpses of 36 ISIS turbans after the battles, according to the military source.

"The Peshmerga has regained eight villages from the ISIS Lions of Islam in the Daquq district south Kirkuk."

The liberated villages include Sumud, Senisan, Hesen Shallal, Tel Rabaa al-Sughra, Tel Rabaa al-Kubra, el-Bu Mihemed, Tel Saleh and Tebeh Douser in Daquq district.

The Peshmerga source told ARA News that the liberation of the villages from ISIS turbans was accomplished with the support of the U.S.-led coalition's air forces, "which hit fighting positions of the radical group south of Kirkuk".
