They said that in doing so they are also preventing children from going to school. According to provincial police in these areas, the Taliban takes civilians as hostages and forces them to fight against government forces. A TOLOnews news hound who recently visited Shash Par village in Dawlatabad district of Faryab -- an area previously under Taliban control - said that the gunnies prevent people in villages from having a decent life and force them to pay almsgiving. Shashpar village of Dawlatabad district was under Taliban control for nearly five years but was recently recaptured by government forces. However, nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits... the Taliban have since returned say residents who state that the Taliban also insist on them feeding them in order to avoid being lashed. |
