2015-08-25 |
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A massive fire has reportedly swept through gas terminal in Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... city in western part of the country earlier tonight. Preliminary reports suggest the incident has taken place in Dahana-e-Kamar Kalagh area of the city and back to back to kabooms were heard after the gas storages caught fire. There are no reports regarding the possible casualties as a result of the incident so far. Numerous pictures have emerged from the incident site which have been taken from far distances that purportedly shows massive fire engulfing the reserves. The main cause of the incident has not been ascertained so far but at least five huge kabooms have been heard from across the Herat city so far with fire still visible from different parts of the city. Dahana-e-Kamar Kalagh is the main gas terminal supplying gas to the western provinces of the country where major gas reserves are located. |
