| Five militants arrested in Karachi: Rangers |

[DAWN] Pakistain Rangers Sindh on Saturday claimed to have placed in durance vileBook 'im, Mahmoud! five suspected holy warriors in raids conducted across Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... The paramilitary force conducted targeted raids in Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Gizri and Gurumandar areas of the city. "Five Death Eaters belonging to proscribed outfits have been arrested in raids conducted today in Karachi," said a spokesperson for the paramilitary force. The spokesperson also added that a significant quantity of weapons were also recovered from the arrested individuals. Earlier, Rangers had also claimed to have arrested multiple alleged criminals including hit mans in a surgical operation conducted in the city's Landhi-VI area on Thursday. Karachi Corps Commander Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar earlier last week had reiterated his trust in Rangers and other law enforcement agencies leading the 'Karachi operation', which he said, was "apolitical, indiscriminate and free of any compromise" aimed at bringing the violence-hit city back to normality. |
