God strikes Hamid Gul dead | |

![]() The nutty former head of Pakistain's ISI, now Godfather to Mullah Omar's Talibs and good buddy and consultant to al-Qaeda's high command... died on Saturday evening after suffering a brain haemorrhage. According to Pak media reports, Gen. Gul died in Combined Military hospital in Murree where he was taken for treatment after suffering brain haemorrhage. Gen. Gul's daughter Uzma Gul confirmed his death who was quoted by the local media as saying that the former spy master was rushed to the hospital after falling seriously ill but the doctors could not revive him. Reports regarding Gen. Gul's death rapidly spread in social media in Afghanistan played a part in the establishment of the Taliban and was once known as the "father of the Taliban". Born on 20 November 1936 in the Sargodha district of Punjab, Gen. Gul palyed also key role in starting the insurgency in Kashmire against India in 1989 by diverting the Mujahideen who participated in the Soviet war to the valley, according to Hindustan Times. Gul was also accused by the United States of having ties to the al Qaeda apart from his role in the Kashmire militancy in India and the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan. He served as the director general of ISI between March 29, 1987 and October 4, 1989 and retired from service in 1992. | |

His hatred for the West, his support of the Taleban both in Pakistan and Afghanistan would eventually cost tens of thousands of lives. |
