Hawa Shinasi Resident's Cry Foul Over Noisy Military Base
2015-08-15
[Tolo News] Residents in the Hawa Shinasi area of Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
spoke out about their frustrations of having a foreign forces military base in their area especially as the base houses military helicopters.
"Yasss... The artillery keeps his excellency up all night!"
They claim that not only is the noise a problem but that damage has also been caused to their homes from all the activity.
"They shouldn't let those jet aircraft kick in their afterburners, either!"
"Local residents are facing a lot of problems after flights started at this base. Flight traffic has damaged our homes and people are being disturbed in the day and at night," one Hawa Shinasi resident, Samiullah said.
"Sometimes they fly so low it causes dust to float down from the sandbags on the roof! Mother just can't keep the house clean!"
"Flights are affecting our children. Some even suffer psychological problems from this," another resident Hamida said.
"And the napalm stinks to high heaven!"
Local residents in the area have called on the government to address their issues.

"We discussed the issue with the government several times. Until now nothing has been done to settle the matter. This time we have sent a letter to military officials at the base to consider the problems we face," another resident Salahuddin said.

According to the residents, the land for the military base was provided to the foreign forces by an Afghan businessman. The foreign troops reportedly pay rent. Initially no helicopters landed and took off there but this has since changed, they said.
