| Former Jihadi Leader Among 7 Dead in Samangan Clash |

| [Tolo News] A former jihadi leader and four of his fighters died in a clash with Taliban gunnies in northern Samangan province on Sunday, local officials said. If you're dead then you're "former." Three gunnies also died in the battle. The incident took place after a number of gunnies attacked Damullah Karim, the former jihadi leader's house, a front man for Provincial Governor, Mohammad Sediq Azizi said on Monday. "In the clash, Qari Damullah Shamshad, Taliban district governor in Roy Do Aab, Mawlawi Bozorg, Taliban district governor for Dara-e-Sof and Nematullah, Taliban capo in Dara-e-Sof were also killed in the clash with the jihadi leader," he said. The reason behind the clash is not yet clear, said officials. The incident happened in Zeraki village -- which was the scene of last month's clash between police and gunnies -- where five local coppers died. The Taliban has yet to comment on the incident. |
