Man killed in city ‘gunfight’
2015-08-04
Dhaka -- A man was killed in ‘gunfight’ with police at Baisteki in in the city's Mirpur area on Sunday night.
The RAB had the night off it appears...
The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam, 30, son of late Ismail Sheikh of Durgapur under Pirojpur Sadar thana in Pirojpur district.
No ferocious nickname, but then this was a local affair...
Police officials said acting on a tip-off,
Not from Mahmoud the Weasel, but a local do-gooder who needed a Tk of crore or two...
a special police team led by Assistant Commissioner (Pallabi Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Jakir Hossain
Jakir, bucking for a promotion to RAB-8...
conducted a drive at Ali Hossain Road of Baishteki in Mirpur section-13
Good luck finding that one on a map even if you have the help of the lavender mod...
It's periwinkle, actually, a different kind of flower.
around 10:00 pm.
Early but perhaps the police officers are married with children and needed to get home...
Sensing presence of the police members,
"Hark! My spider-sense tingles!"
a criminal gang shot gunfire at them,
"Time for aimless fire, boys!"
forcing the law enforcers to retaliate
Of course they did, they couldn't help themselves...
which triggered a gunfight,
Lots of bullets were fired leaving no marks on anything...
leaving Salam, a member of the criminal gang, critically injured.
"Aiiieee! I am just about undone!"
Other members of the criminal group fled from the scene.
As if they were never there, of course...
Police also recovered one firearm from the spot.
Not a shutter gun, no sir, for that you need to engage the RAB...
Injured Salam was taken to a nearby hospital,
Definitely not a place to go for anything other than a toothache...
and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)
Not a level 1 trauma center but that didn't matter...
where doctors declared him dead at about 1.00 am, said sub-inspector Sentu Das of DMCH police camp.
"Hey Doc, what's taking so long? Call it already!"
