[PhilStar] Four communist militants, including the alleged successor of slain New People's Army commander Leoncio Pitao, were apprehended by Philippine security forces on Wednesday in Davao City.Army spokesman Alexandre Cabales identified the arrested miliants as Christopher Rollon, head of the NPA Pulang Bagani Command 1 and his companions Alexander Abalos, Bartolome, Rannie Ninal and Mike Capito.
Cabales said, "Rollon is believed to have succeeded Leoncio Pitao alias Parago who was killed in a military encounter exactly one month ago."
Bartolome is said to be a political officer for Southern Mindanao Regional Committee.
The four were nabbed in Calinan district on two warrants for robbery and attempted murder. They tried to evade a checkpoint but were eventually caught by security forces.
