Turkey fighter jets strike ISIS positions in Syria
2015-07-25
[FOXNEWS] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's government took a stand against Islamic faceless myrmidons Friday, sending its warplanes to pound ISIS targets across the border in Syria, and detaining nearly 300 suspected holy warriors across the country.

A government statement said three Turkish F-16 jets took off from Diyarbakir airbase in southeast Turkey early on Friday and used smart bombs to hit three ISIS targets. A government official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of government rules requiring authorization for comment, told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named the targets were two command centers and a gathering point of ISIS supporters.

The official statement said the decision for the operation was made at a security meeting held on Thursday after ISIS holy warriors fired from Syrian territory at a Turkish military outpost, killing a soldier.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said the Arclight airstrikes Friday had "removed potential threats" to Turkey, hitting their targets with "100 percent accuracy." He did not rule out further Arclight airstrikes, saying Turkey was determined to stave off all terror threats against it.

#3  Article in the WSJ today says Turkey is attacking Kurdish rebels in Iraq now. So, going after ISIS is providing cover for violating Iraq's sovereignty (such as it is) to attack people who are also fighting against ISIS. Everything in the ME is clear as mud.

#2  Do you suppose the new government in Turkey has realized that ISIS is not their friend and all of those wonderful cosmopolitan comforts and treats they enjoy in Istanbul would disappear under the ISIS thumb?

How any westernized ME government with high rise offices, Ferraris, Hermes scarves, Vuitton purses, and modern appliances could support these backward looking 7th century loonies is beyond me.

I think it goes beyond the backward looking ideas preached by Islam, it goes into some self loathing and desire for control. Islam is the key however, the fact they have locked the theology in stone and refuse to interpret the Quran and let the religion evolve is the reason it is in conflict.

I still believe, that Mohammed was influenced by some radical sect Christians who fled the Roman destruction of Jerusalem. As James, Peter, and Paul mention, some early "Christians" were really very far out on the fringe with their belief systems and were purged from the mainstream and chased out of Jerusalem while James was the leader of the church. These groups scattered and some found their way into the Arabian peninsula. I believe Islam is a very bastardized and mutated FUBAR form of Christianity, they won't admit it but large portions of the Quran are taken in whole cloth from some writings of Mark, John, Matthew et al.

That being said, ISIS is a plague and a poison upon this planet and any government or government leader that takes this threat less than very seriously, is putting a nation and all of its citizens in peril...as Turkey as awakened to.
