[Gulf Today] A powerful bomb thought to have been planted by the Abu Sayyaf, exploded inside a bar in Zamboanga City, killing a female cashier and injuring ten people.Police chief Angelito Casimiro said the blast happened inside a bar located near the Zamboanga City Fire District headquarters on Thursday night. He said, "The extremists threatened to attack business establishments such as bars in the city where soldiers and policemen would usually converge for R&R in retaliation for the continuing campaign against the Abu Sayyaf in Sulu."
Also in Mindanao, provincial military spokesman Jo Ann Petinglay said that unidentified men on Thursday night used a grenade launcher against a military detachment in a remote village in the town of Mamasapano in Maguindanao. She added that no casualties were reported in the attack on the village of Tukanalipao. Tukanalipao was the site of the massacre of 44 elite police commandos sent to arrest top terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir, alias Marwan, on Jan.23.
