[Fayetteville Observer] The man who will likely become the Army's next top officer was welcomed by a largely friendly Senate committee during his nomination hearing Tuesday.Gen. Mark A. Milley, commander of U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, was peppered with questions over a nearly two-hour Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.
Milley was tapped earlier this year to be the next Army chief of staff.
The hearing was one of the final steps in that process, which requires Senate confirmation.
"Largely friendly Senate Committee" indeed. So who is Milley and why is this a concern? Milley is the Court Martial Convening Authority for the deserter and probable traitor Bowe Bergdahl who was charged with violations of Article 85 (Desertion) and 99 (Misbehavior Before the Enemy) of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice.
Milley has not announced the status of Bergdahl including referral to Court Martial in an apparent stall despite charges having been filed. Is Milley yet another PC 'Yes Man' for the Obama Administration? Rhetorical question of course.
