[Inquirer] Two Philippine soldiers and nine Maoist militants were injured during an hour-long encounter in Compostela Valley on Tuesday afternoon. The troops were on patrol when they encountered about 20 New People's Army militants in New Bataan.Eyewitnesses said nine militants were seriously injured but they were taken by their comrades who fled.
Eastern Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Aurelio Baladad ordered the search for the wounded militants. He said, "We are also concerned about the wounded NPA members. We have a brand-new ambulance here at Eastmincom that can help them reach the hospital for their immediate treatment."
