[Sun Star] Four Philippine soldiers were injured when New People's Army militants set off an improvised bomb at the height of a firefight in the hinterlands of Agusan del Sur.Eastmincom spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Gubat said the blast occurred Thursday afternoon in Loreto. He said the soldiers were on security patrol following the reported presence of communist rebels when the fighting broke out in the village of Binucayan.
Gubat said the NPA militants set off an improvised bomb made from a landmine that injured the soldiers. He said that locals observed the militants carrying some of their wounded as they fled.
