US Army bacon found near Stonehenge |
2015-07-05 |
Wessex Archaeology, based on the plain, said various US-issued provisions had been found in recent years. Among the finds were tins of cooking oil, bottles of sauce and "even what appeared to be a block of lard". A group spokeswoman said: "The state of preservation of the provisions shows how well made they were." |

#9 Spook ole buddy, yes they were. We had this pool in ranger school going on some of the patrols with the winner being the person with the OLDEST C-Rats for that meal. I personally saw C-Rats that were dated to 1951 or there abouts. My big point is that Reforger didn't go through England it was strictly a USAREUR/NATO show with the troops coming straight to the FRG. Any US Army rations found buried near Stonehenge HAD to be from WWDuece. |

#8 It was buried in WW Deuce, but that lard was likely from the Span-Am Festivities. |

#4 Naw, Reforger was in Germany with direct staging of troops from Fort Hood to prestocked equipment. This stuff sounds like a buried pile of WWII stuff the quartermasters did not want to inventory and send home after Hitler bit the big one. |
