[Rudaw] Iraqi security forces have recaptured several strategic areas in Anbar province, including six crucial areas north of Baghdad, according to a statement released by Baghdad Operations Command. "Hora, Ghazra, Ghazila, Naher Yabs, Albu Shalal and Albu Hayat are six small but strategic areas that have been fully recaptured by our forces," the statement said, adding that the areas are crucial for the safety and stability of the capital. The Baghdad command called Sunday's lightning offensive "a great victory" for Iraqi forces. Also on Sunday, an Anbar police official told Rudaw that Iraqi security forces had defeated ISIS fighters in the Dourga region, west of Samara city in Anbar province. "Iraqi security forces with support from Shiite militias of the Hashd al-Shaabi and backed by rustics have been able to take back the Dourga region in Samara," the source said. |

#1 I think these places are all in the west part of Anbar within 50 miles or so of the Jordan border. I don't understand why they are strategic. |
