Altaf asks for Rangers to be stopped
2015-06-18
[NATION.PK] Joining hands with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in anti-rangers tirade, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain telephoned President Mamnoon Hussain, asking him to use his power to stop Rangers from committing "atrocities against the people of Sindh."

In his first statement after quitting the party, Altaf said Rangers brutality with political workers on the pretext of arresting terrorists is not only a violation of human rights but is also completely against the UN Charter and the Constitution of Pakistan.

He alleged that MQM workers and office-bearers were disappearing.

"When the elected representatives contact local Rangers officials for getting information about arrested workers, they are not given any satisfactory reply," he said.

He further said that the arrested people are kept in custody for several months before declaring their arrests. He said that the Rangers are also bound to follow the law and Constitution of Pakistan as any other citizen of Pakistan.
