| Pakistan's Demands for Tariff Decrease Returned In Kind by Kabul |

| [Tolo News] The government of Pakistain this week asked Afghan leaders to decrease the transit tariffs imposed on Pak goods en route to Central Asian countries. The Afghan government, in turn, has demanded Pakistain do the same thing for Afghan goods on their way to South Asian countries. Officials at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) in Kabul ...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the Worldand didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either.... have said that they are willing to cooperate on the basis of the Afghanistan-Pakistain Transit and Trade Agreement (APTTA) agreement, but only if Pakistain starts holding up its end of the bargain. According to the ministry, every truck - including those from Pakistain - pays 8,000 Afghanis in transit fees to Afghanistan to make its to Central Asian countries through Afghan territory. "We are ready for every form of cooperation in order to give Pakistain access to the Central Asian countries through Afghanistan," MoF front man Abdul Qader Jeelani said on Monday. "But we expect that Pakistain would do the same for our goods that travel to South Asian countries and India." |
