Najran attackers won't go unpunished

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. militia fired rockets and mortars into the southern province of Najran on Tuesday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Assiri, front man of the Saudi-led "Operation Restore Hope", confirmed the attack and said a number of injuries were reported, SPA said.

Al-Assiri was quoted as saying Houthis fired mortar shells and some Katyusha rockets randomly, hitting some schools and a field hospital in Najran.

Nonetheless, the general assured the citizens of Najran that the situation is now "under control" and ground troops and border guards now are doing their job in dealing with the source of the attack.

He said the attackers "will not go unpunished" and the Saudi forces will deal with them appropriately. He added that Saudi Apache attack helicopters returned fire.

"We will continue to respond firmly because one of the goals of Operation Restore Hope is a response to the work of the Houthi militias," he said in a presser in Riyadh.
