Media sez eight (8) Indonesian drug peddlers now Tango Uniform
2015-04-29
[Rooters] Eight drug-trafficking convicts from several countries were executed by an Indonesian firing squad shortly after midnight on Wednesday, media said, but a Filipina who was on death row with them was unexpectedly spared at the last minute.

There was no immediate official confirmation that the eight men had been executed.

Earlier, Jakarta rejected last-ditch pleas from around the world for clemency to be granted the drug traffickers from Nigeria, Australia, Brazil and Indonesia, ordering their mass execution to proceed within hours.

A spokesman for the Attorney General's Office said the execution of Mary Jane Veloso, a mother of two who was arrested in 2010 after she arrived in Indonesia with 2.6 kg of heroin hidden in her suitcase, had been delayed.
Quite sad actually. They were reported to have sung gospel hymns as the bullets flew.

#2  i guess that just goes to show, John QC that the death penalty is not a deterrent

Perhaps if they made heroin legal on prescription to registered addicts and treated it like a health problem that would take away the money incentive from the criminal gangs.

#1  Indonesia has zero tolerance for drugs. And yet, people keep getting caught in Indonesia for drug dealing. At some point, you would think they would not take the risk. Mary Jane Veloso may have actually been an unwitting dupe as she says--hard to say for sure.
