[RFE/RL] Russia's foreign ministry has protested Poland's decision to refuse entry to a group of Russian motorcyclists on a trip it says is meant to commemorate Soviet war victories during World War II. In a statement, the ministry said that it is "indignant" about Poland's decision on the bikers, who include members of the Night Wolves club that Putin has ridden with.
The Night Wolves, which are supported by the Kremlin and the Russian Orthodox Church, planned to ride through Belarus, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria to reach Berlin on May 9. The plan has triggered protests in Poland.
The U.S. announced sanctions against the Night Wolves in December over the Crimean invasion, but they have not yet been blacklisted by the EU. |
