Ikea's Newly Designed Refugee Shelters Are a Game Changer
2015-04-12
[HuffPoo] Thousands of refugees who braved winter's brutal conditions have more than just milder weather to look forward to this summer.

After pursuing extensive research and testing, the Ikea Foundation and the U.N. Refugee Agency (UNHCR) are preparing to roll out 10,000 innovative shelters for refugees that will provide the very basics any human would need to survive.

Requiring no additional tools, the 188-square-foot Better Shelter can accommodate five people, is easy to assemble and is fitted with a solar panel and lamp.

#10  "damned hot in summer" well that might just be an inducement to the inmates to get off their lazy refugee arse and find work. or else just lay there, sweat and whine.

might be even more fun to simply send the IKEA kits over and 'forget' to include the special metric allen wrench needed to screw it all together.....

#5  What's wrong with a shipping container and a cutting torch. No instructions needed ( other than,'I think I liked it when the window was over THERE)
and none of Ed's dreaded particle board

#4  The only problem is if you loose the instructions you're basically doomed. That and the particle board...
