McCain standing by decision to sign Iran letter |
2015-03-16 |
[USATODAY] Despite ferocious political blowback, U.S. Sen. ![]() MaverickMcCain ... the Senator-for-Life from Arizona, former presidential candidate and even more former foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution... is defending his decision to join 46 of his fellow Republican senators in writing a letter to Iran's leaders regarding their ongoing nuclear talks with President B.O.'s administration. The now-notorious letter organized by Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., bluntly told the Iranian negotiators that the GOP senators would "consider any agreement regarding your nuclear-weapons program that is not approved by the Congress as nothing more than an executive agreement between President B.O. and Ayatollah Khamenei" that easily could be undone by a future president or Congress. |
