| College girl raped by 'policeman' |

| [Dhaka Tribune] A 20-year-old college girl has been raped by a policeman in Jessore. The accused Apon, son of Abdul Barik, of Zadavpur Village of Bhagharpara Union in the district, was working as police constable at Horinakundu cop shoppe under Jhenaidah district. The victim is a student of first year graduate (honours) of Jessore Government MM College. The student filed a complained to Chougachha cop shoppe on Saturday that she was raped by the policeman in Kaliganj Barabazar area and the accused also snatched her mobile phone, money and gold jewelries. After the complaint, Chougachha police tossed in the calaboose Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! Apon in a special drive from Horinakundu cop shoppe around 2am on Sunday. Horinakundu cop shoppe Sub-Inspector Nahian endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune. Later, the victim was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital (JMCH) for medical report and doctors found evidences of rape. |

| #1 I thought that under Sharia, a woman could only file a charge of rape if there were four male witnesses. |
