#5  Wtf did he join the marines for if he was torn betwen cultures? Not like he was drafted. Maybe someone will beat his brains out in prison.

#4  "A prosecutor described Hassoun as 'torn between two cultures: the Marine Corps and his upbringing as a Sunni Arab.' Prosecutors said Hassoun was disillusioned with the Marine Corps and longed for his Lebanese wife in 2004."

With the prosecutors making this type of statement, I'm surprised he got any time at all!

#3  Yeah - in the good old days we used to shoot deserters during wartime.

#1  "He didn't what to die in Iraq." Hmmmm. . . How about Virginia? My expertise with authorized UMCJ penalties is non-existent but I'd be okay with sticking him at the business end of Range 4 at Quantico. Deserted twice - (spit).

Along with desertion, the prosecutors could have made Article 125 stick I'd wager.
