President Ghani in a statement issued by the Presidential Palace here on Saturday called the attack a "brutal act".

"Killing of defenseless individuals, particularly those offering prayers, is solely un-Islamic and inhuman act that is never justifiable." president Ghani is quoted as saying in the statement.

President Ghani has offered condolences and sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims.

President Ghani emphasizes that terrorism is a common threat for the region and the word and that firm struggle is required in fight with them.

The attack took place in Hayatabad area of Peshawar where about 800 worshipers had gathered to offer Friday prayers in Imamia Masjid Imamabargah, leaving 21 worshipers dead and more than 50 others injured.
