| Yemen rebels seize US vehicles as Western embassies close | |

[SFCHRONICLE] The United States, Britain and France moved to close their embassies in Yemen on Wednesday, increasing the isolation of Shiite rebels who have seized power. In a show of bravado against the Americans, the rebels seized the cars of U.S. diplomats left at the airport on the way out.

| #4 Agree with all three. Wasn't a ship deployed to Yemen like a month ago to assist with any embassy evacuations? So this isn't out of the blue. Pictures of US soldiers walking off, captured boodle, all make powerful propaganda. I don't know if we could have, or even should, done NMBSs idea, but it would have been Bold. And we are really missing Bold right now. What we got is an infomercial for obamacare starring barrack as jim carrey. |

| #2 In a different world the US Navy amphib TF would. Lose to the harbor, and the last embassy staff, the colors and the Marines, armed and ready, would convoy all the embassy vehicles to the port and load them on landing craft. Overhead air cover and reinforcement as needed would be visible. If the vehicles pose an unnecessary space problem, deep six them. Leaving with your tail between your legs is not what a confident nation does. But then, this is what passes for leadership from the fools who cloak doing nothing under the rubric of "strategic patience". |

| #1 Dumass State Dept; would have been too hard to yank out the engine wiring or dump sand in the gas tank. let the Marines take a target shot before they had to give up their weapons.... |
