[Sun Star] Philippine troops recovered high-powered weapons following a gun battle with New People's Army (NPA) militants in the North Cotabato hinterlands.Lieutenant General Aurelio Baladad said the firefight broke out Tuesday in the village of Sumalili, Arakan. He said the fighting broke out as troops from the Army's 84th Infantry Battalion happened upon the insurgents while verifying reported militant consolidation in the area.
Baladad said the gun battle lasted for 25 minutes before the millitants scattered.
