Doran recounts that in a Senate hearing, Secretary of State John Kerry was asked about weaknesses in the administration’s plan for fighting ISIS, and suggested that Iran and Syria could help:

Kerry stunningly suggested that the gaps would be filled by . . . Iran and Assad. “[Y]ou’re presuming that Iran and Syria don’t have any capacity to take on” Islamic State, Kerry said. “If we are failing and failing miserably, who knows what choice they might make.”

#8  'Stability' in this context means that Iran will be able to subjugate and pacify regions in its extended neighborhood and to suppress opposition to theocracy domestically.

If that happens Iran will be free to project power elsewhere.

Why should a mortal enemy's 'stability' per se even be desirable outcome?

You know, had youknowwho and his "brain trust" spent some time studying the dynamic of the region, a good solid democracy of a sorts in Iraq with the requisite relative affluence could have been a better choice.

That 'youknowho' is on God Damn America's side is an assumption not supported by evidence.
