Terror Raid in Belgium 2 Dead
2015-01-16 | |
Early reports. Federal prosecutors said there had been a police operation near the centre of Verviers reportedly to check on suspected Islamist extremists. They went BOOM! The Belga news agency said there were several casualties and police activity was continuing in the town. Round 'em all up and dispose of properly. Explosions and gunfire were apparently heard near the train station, according to Belgium's public broadcaster RTBF. Big booms. It said there were no casualties among the security forces involved. Good job! Two unidentified people were killed and a third seriously wounded. Several other people were detained. Have to wait for dental records? RTBF said police had raided an apartment above a bakery. What is it with bakeries these days? And the website of La Meuse newspaper quoted an unidentified police officer as saying: "We've averted a Belgian Charlie Hebdo." More interesting stuff at the link.
