| Bomb kills one at busy Philippine market |

| [Mindanao Examiner] An improvised explosive device exploded Wednesday at a market area in southern Philippines and killing one person and injuring at least 36 others. The blast occured near the entrance of the market in the town of Mlang in North Cotabato province. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the attack, but several militant groups actively operate in the region. Officials said the motive of the attack - that coincided on the eve of the New Year’s celebration – remains unknown. |
