[MEDIAITE] Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams denied to Meet the Press Sunday morning that the protests over the grand jury decision in the Eric Garner case contributed in any way to the murder of two NYPD officers in Bedstuy Saturday night.
The shooter, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, referenced the Garner case in a final Instagram post in which he said he was going to put “wings on pigs”; Brinsley shot himself shortly after shooting and killing two officers. In the hours since Gotham Mayor Bill de Blasio and Eric Garner protesters have been blamed by some for contributing to an anti-cop atmosphere that supposedly enabled Brinsley.
Adams was having none of it. “We cannot mix the two,” he said. “Those who were calling for the police reform were not calling for the police retribution.”

“Blood is not on the hands of the mayor,” Adams said, referring to the antagonistic statements from NYPD Union Chief Pat Lynch. “The blood is on the hands of the sick person who took the life of two innocent police officers. Innocent people should not die in America. It does not matter if they are wearing a police uniform or a three-piece suit.” |
