Captain Maria Rowena Muyuela said seven soldiers were also injured, one seriously, in the encounter that occurred in a remote village in the town of Tipo-Tipo on Thursday morning. One of those killed was identified as Abdullah Kalifot, who carried a $12,000 bounty on his head for nine counts of murder and a jail escape. Muyuela said, "Kalifot was the henchman of Abu Sayyaf leader Nurhasan Jamiri in Basilan, who escaped from the provincial jail on December 31, 2010." | |
