| Ghani Speaks Out Against Proxy Warfare at South Asia Summit |

| [Tolo News] At a gathering of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) on Wednesday, Afghanistan's Caped President Ashraf Ghani ...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. .. assured officials from Afghanistan's neighboring countries that he would not allow Afghan territory to be used as a springboard for attacks on other countries nor a battleground for proxy war. "We will not allow our territory to be used against any of our neighbors, but we will also not permit anybody to conduct proxy wars on our soil either," Ghani said. President Ghani reminded participants of the summit that while he spoke, insurgency wages on in Afghanistan. He pointed to the recent attack in Paktika ...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo... province as evidence of the dire state of security in the country. Indian's Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed Ghani's comments with calls for cooperation to combat terrorism in the region. "For India, our vision for the region rests on five pillars: trade, investment, assistance and cooperation..."
