[Dhaka Tribune] A 15-year-old hearing-impaired girl was allegedly gang raped by three Union Gay Pareehad members in Tangail in the Dashakia Union Gay Pareehad (UP) office premises on October 25.The victim's mother lodged a case with Kalihati cop shoppe on Thursday night accusing three UP members of gang raping the girl who is from the Dashakia Union in Tangail's Kalihati upazila.
The accused are Md Sahidul Islam, 38, Kurban Ali, 50, and Shahjahan Sarkar, 40, all Dashakia UP members.
The victim's mother said: "I went out to my neighbour's house in the morning. A neighbour named Fozila came to my house while I was away and took my daughter to the Dashakia Union Gay Pareehad office premises where three UP members raped her."
"Locals warned me not to complain to police about the rape because the rapists are powerful people of the area," she said.
"I want justice. I want exemplary punishment for those who ruined my daughter's life," the victim's mother said.
The fatherless victim's younger sister too is hearing-impaired.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Abul Hasnat told the Dhaka Tribune: "We brought the victim and her mother to the cop shoppe on Thursday. The victim was sent to Tangail Medical College Hospital yesterday for a medical check-up."
