Death toll from Islamic State massacre of Sunni tribe in Anbar surges |

[CSMONITOR] Iraqi officials upped the corpse count of a massacre of Sunni Arab rustics by the self-styled Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... today to 322, making it among the largest massacres of civilians carried out by the group so far in its campaign to terrify Iraqi civilians and security forces from opposing the group. Iraqi officials originally said that about 50 captive men and women from the Albu Nimr tribe were murdered by IS forces of Evil on Friday north of Ramadi, the quiet provincial capital of Anbar province, as punishment for resisting the forces of Evil takeover of their hometown of Hit. Today Iraqi officials upped the corpse count. The Islamic State has used tactics so brutal that many Iraqis have compared the group to Hulagu Khan, the grandson of Ghengis Khan who sacked Baghdad in 1258, killing tens of thousands of residents as punishment for the city's defiance and emptying so many of Baghdad's famed libraries into the Tigris River that legend had it a man or horse could walk across on them. And for the same reason. During the group's return to prominence in Iraq this year, the place where it was founded, a fearsome reputation has been the group's best weapon - contributing to the Iraqi military's panicked retreat from the northern city of djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... , abandoning US-supplied tanks and armored cars, ahead of the IS advance. |

#3 Ahhh, Thank you my friend for the clarification. I was always fascinated by the Moslem reverence for Tamerlane when he butchered so many of them and destroyed so many of their cities. I forgot completely about the Moguls venture into the middle east. I will do a little research and illuminate myself. Obviously I didn't know all there was to know about this bit of history. Thank you again. |

#2 Hulagu Khan with his Mongol and Chinese army sacked Baghdad in 1258. Tamerlane sacked Baghdad in 1401 but it was still a shadow of its former glory after the Mongol sacking. |

#1 It was Tamerlane you idiots who sacked Baghdad, massacred the entire population and threw all of the books and writings in the University library in the river...turned the river black. He told each of his soldiers to bring him two heads. They build four pyramids of heads, at the cardinal points of the city, each one hundred feet square. Estimates run as high as 1 million people slaughtered. Interestingly, Tamerlane is considered a "defender of the faith" by Moslems...odd since he slaughtered so many Moslems in Baghdad and other cities on his rampage across the middle east. |
