Russia Says US Airstrikes Without UN Mandate Would Be Act Of Aggression
2014-09-12
In the UN Security Council, where Russia has the veto, oddly enough. But will President Obama bother, when his is the righteous cause?
[Ynet] Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday Arclight airstrikes against Islamist gunnies in Syria without a UN Security Council mandate would be an act of aggression, Interfax news agency reported.

"The US president has spoken directly about the possibility of strikes by the US armed forces against ISIL positions in Syria without the consent of the legitimate government," ministry front man Alexander Lukashevich said.

"This step, in the absence of a UN Security Council decision, would be an act of aggression, a gross violation of international law."

#16  The Qaeda Boyz may be anti-Assad but they are also anti-"Moderate/Secular" Muslim as well as anti-Western.

Baby Assad [Syria] + Tehran [Iran} are siding wid
Russia.

* FYI MARIANAS VARIETY GUAM GUAM > [Reuters]OPINION: TO BEAT THE "ISLAMIC STATE, OBAMA NEEDS IRAN.

Whether he likes it or not, wants it or not.

Yuuuop, + PCorrectly course the fact that the Bammer is anti-US US OWG Globalist already interested in empower OWG Co-superpower Rising Iran, etal. has absolutely positively categorically undeniably ... ...@etc. nothing to do wid anything!

By definition, by "needing" IRAN to fight the IS OBAMA ALSO "NEEDS" BABY ASSAD. IMO both Baby Assad + Russia are well-aware of this.

But I digress ... ...

#15  "What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander."?

Russia's invasion and annexation of Ukraine isn't aggression, but the US action against head-chopping terrorists - without any territorial objectives - is.

#13  Unfortunately we won't be hearing about obama's illegal war (assuming you know) because that was just nonsene to bash Bush with.

#12  You have to admit that the Russians indeed stand by their clients.

But wait, there's more...

isn't this to bomb ISIS? I thought Russia was still pretending ISIS wasn't really working for Assad?

#11  Except if the Chinese want their territorial waters and it's a month they need Chinese support for their Ukranian Chaos Extravaganza.

#9  See, here is the problem with rattling at Syria with the git tuf speech. If that was tuf gi stuff, well, no not even domestically nevermind real Tough Guys.

Whatever de-escalation going on, if any, with Russia and Iran is over.

Second, any air strikes vs. ISJV within Syria will be targeted by Syrian air defenses, in the event the air strike is against Syria targets. Perhaps even fired upon if the air units get too close to a sensitive area.

Third, if we are wanting to cripple Syria with airstrikes, why tip the hand? Why not work with them, stomp some weasels while building trust, then stab them in the back?

But hey, you know, I guess that is what this administration considers a Congressional Level Briefing.

#7  Well Russia is an expert on acts of aggression so I believe them.

#6  Essentially given the 'green light' by the Champ and the Europeons, I doubt Vlad sees his actions in Crimea and the Ukraine as "aggression."

#5  Russia's self-righteous indignation is eye-brow raising in view of their machinations in the Crimea and Ukraine. Also in Georgia a few years back.

#4  Ah, the Russians don't care what we do to ISIS. They're just stirring the you-know-what for the fun of it. Who knows what they can get the Obama Administration to do if they try? And it sets a nice narrative for home consumption as well.

#3  Seems to me like any airstrikes are an act of aggression.

#2  Meanwhile, Russia continues its invasion of the Ukraine and continues its plans for a show trial of an Estonian officer.
