[IsraelTimes] Turkey will refuse to allow a US-led coalition to attack jihadists in neighboring Iraq and Syria from its air bases, nor will it take part in combat operations against Lion of Islams, a government official told AFP Thursday. "Turkey will not be involved in any armed operation but will entirely concentrate on humanitarian operations," the official said on condition of anonymity. The decision echoes the country's refusal to allow the US to station 60,000 troops in Turkey in 2003 to invade Iraq from the north, which triggered a crisis between the two allies. Ankara then also refused Washington permission to use its air bases to attack Saddam Hussein's regime.

#5 What countries are in the anti-ISIL coalition at this time and what are their commitments? Anybody know? Originally, it was planned by Obama that The coalition is initially planned to consist of 10 countries: the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, Italy, Poland, Denmark, as well as the US and Turkey. It appears that some of them are getting wobbly. |

#3 "Turkey can open Incirlik Air Base in the south for logistical and humanitarian operations in any US-led operation..." Until recently the US had a drone operation housed at Incirlik. However, it is possible that it has moved to Irbil, Kurdistan. In any case, there is no reason to include an undependable Turkey in NATO or the EU. |

#2 and to extend on phil_b's comment it would be particularly dangerous to become the focus of ISIL considering the very close proximity to Turkish borders, and internal staging, of ISIL members Best tactic is lay low and don't draw their interest. |

#1 Rather expected. The MB (and whatever Turkey calls its variant) are ISIS-lite. |
