After Golf Snub, President Canceled Plans, Went Home |
2014-09-11 |
[WEEKLYSTANDARD] A new report from NBC claims that President Obama couldn't get a tee time during a recent visit to New York. So he packed up and went home (before returning to New York the next night for a private wedding). "President Obama was turned down at several top golf courses in Westchester while he was visiting the area over Labor Day weekend, sources tell NBC 4 New York," the report states. "Club managers apparently did not want to inconvenience their high-powered and high-paying members over Labor Day weekend by shutting down their courses to accommodate the president. The president was in town Aug. 29, a Friday, for fundraising events in New York and Rhode Island. He had been scheduled to stay overnight in Westchester County in order to attend the Saturday evening wedding of MSNBC host Alex Wagner and White House chef Sam Kass at Blue Hill Farm." So Obama went home. |

#16 Kinda surprised He didn't build a golf course in the basement of the White House. Don't they already have a bowling alley? |

#14 Labor Day at top notch courses...suppose the waiting list is for that, nevermind schmooz and course fees. Gotta think that two groups forward and two groups behind would have to be cancelled - that is 16 golfers. Nevermind the suits, air noise, and general chaos of security being in the way of everyone else. Fly home from Stockholm to go golfing with my previous Wall Street pit buddies now successfull men of business for the one and only get together, scheduled back in 2004 when they all made it, to be cancelled because Obama. Golf courses did prez a favor. This is the guy who cut in line and shut down lunch at the BBQ place in Texas, because he had a whim. I understand the schedule cannot be telegraphed, but duuude you are tripling up in the choom circle because you. |

#11 Whores are only around when they have value to the customer. He is tainted and it does the high end clubs zero good to have him around. It will only get worse for him when he is finally out of office. |

#10 Imagine my luck, two guys get beheaded and I've got to give a damn speech to act like I'm doing something. $hit, I could have been out on the fairways. What luck. Obama |

#9 No audits. The members of the clubs are probably all big Obama contributors. |

#8 I see an IRS audit in their future, though I'm sure they can afford the lawyers necessary to increase employment in the beltway. |

#7 Hell, let him play if he wants, but charge him $30 million a round, to compensate any of the other club members who might complain about being displaced. On second thought, make it $100 million. |

#6 How about the driving range or a quiet evening of study and reflection? No, he was angry, pouty. A message had to be sent. |

#5 Couldn't they have let him play at midnight? Yes, but that would have run up against his midnight hoopie thingy......wit' da hood n' all..... |

#4 Maybe he could just play golf without all the security? |

#3 Angered by the "no" word, he no doubt saw it as racist. |

#2 From the news report: The sources said the White House advance team was giving the clubs just a day or two notice to fill the president's open Saturday morning in New York. Of several courses contacted in New York and Connecticut, a spokesman for Fairview Country Club in Greenwich said it would have accommodated the president if he had asked. That was the only club that said it would... Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest times of year for golf courses, and with membership at some area clubs exceeding $100,000, many courses may not have wanted to displace its members on a weekend when they would have wanted to play. Taking care of regular paying customers. How... quaint. |
