| Suspected Qaeda bomb kills Yemeni general |

[Al Ahram] "A bomb went kaboom!in the car of General Ahmed Mohammed Saleh al-Omari, logistics and supplies officer of the third military region... wounding him and his son" in Aden's Al-Mansura district, a military official said, Both were hospitalised but Omari later died of his wounds, the official and a medical source said. Yemeni authorities blame Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which has been branded by Washington as the bully boy network's deadliest franchise, for most attacks on members of the security forces. In late April, the army launched a ground offensive against AQAP in Shabwa and nearby Abyan ...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirateafter seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues... provinces, both in the south. |
