2014-08-11 |
[MAGHAREBIA] Tunisian security services thwarted a major terrorist plot targeting public figures and institutions, TAP reported on Thursday (August 7th). Twenty-one people, belonging to five separate Ansar al-Sharia ...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet... cells, were jugged ... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not... in several Tunis suburbs, Interior Ministry Spokesman Ali Laroui said. The suspects are accused of planning attacks on politicians, security officials, journalists, citizens, police premises and "sensitive sites" in the capital. The plot was revealed after the arrest of terrorist Hichem Ben Rabah on August 2nd, as he was trying to flee to Libya. |
