2014-07-17 |
![]() Faraj Al-Shibli, who was last seen in the hands of a local militia in the eastern town of Marj, was found dead at dawn on Tuesday just outside of the town, his body showing signs of torture. He is the second Benghazi suspect to surface over the past few weeks, after US forces seized the alleged leader of the attack, Ahmed Abu Khattalah, outside Benghazi last month. Back in March 2013, Shibli was taken into custody by the Libyan government in connection with the Benghazi attack. The US FBI was given the opportunity to question him. He was released two months later for undisclosed reasons. He was known to have been a member of the Libyan Islamist Fighting Group (LIFG), which fought for the overthrow of Qadaffy in the 1990s. |
