| [MAGHAREBIA] Khalifa Haftar's forces warned Benghazi University students not to attend classes, as the Islamists are storing weapons and ammunition on the campus, Libya Herald reported on Thursday (May 29th). "The Air Force is hitting their camps, so Ansar al-Sharia ...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libya, Tunisia and Yemen, with the Libyan and Tunisian versions currently most active... and the February 17 Brigade have moved their weapons and ammunition stores to the university," said Mohammed al-Hijazi, the front man for the retired general. The Islamists may attempt to use the students as human shields, he added. On Wednesday, Haftar's forces pounded the Benghazi bases of the two Islamist militias. |
