 QORYOLEY -- Fierce battle broke out between Somali National Army along with AU mission in Somalia "AMISOM" forces and Al Shabaab militants at outside Qoryoley town of lower Shabelle region, Shabelle reports.

Omar Mohamud Ilmi, a deputy commissioner for social affairs told Shabelle Media that the fighting occurred after allied forces launched heavy assaults against Al Shabaab bases located outside Qoryooley town. He added that Somali troops backed by AMISOM forces killed number Al Shabaab militants in the battle which took place outside Qoryooley.
"Our troops along with AU peacekeeping forces are ready to eliminate the remnants in the region" said, Omar Mohamud, adding the militants were driven out from the town. |
