| Philippine troops clash with BIFF militants |

| Philippine troops clashed with militants on Friday in Maguindanao province killing an undetermined number of gunmen. Colonel Gener del Rosario said a team of soldiers were patroling a village when they encountered about two dozen members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters. He said, "It was fierce, the fighting in the village and we are sure that the enemies had suffered some casualties because there were bloodstains all over the areas where they withdrawn. We also recovered five M16 automatic rifles along the way and many BIFF uniforms and radio sets and backpacks." He said that no soldiers were killed or injured in the gun battle. |
