2014-04-15 |
[Iran Press TV] At least one university student is feared dead in Egypt's capital, Cairo, after riot police attacked an anti-regime demonstration inside Cairo University. This comes after police fired tear gas and birdshot to disperse the protesters at the campus in Cairo on Monday. Dozens of people, including a journalist, were also injured in the crackdown. Violent festivities have been also reported in the universities of the cities of Zagazig and Asyut. A number of students were maimed and several others bussed to detention centers. The protest rallies come hours after Egypt's former defense minister, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, officially submitted his bid to run for president. Sisi led the overthrow of former president, Mohammed Morsi ...the former president of Egypt. A proponent of the One Man, One Vote, One Timeprinciple, Morsi won election after the deposal of Hosni Mubarak and jumped to the conclusion it was his turn to be dictator... , suspended the constitution and dissolved the parliament in July last year. Sisi is also accused of leading a severe crackdown against supporters of Morsi and the Moslem Brüderbund. The fierce festivities at university campuses have been the latest in a new wave of bloody crackdown against anti-military students. |
