#8 Gotta say I somewhat agree with mr Kucinich for once. Perhaps a new alliance could be made but just keeping NATO around is somewhat a finger to Russia (which I enjoy now but which was unhelpful the last decade or so). |

#4 America's NATO's mission ended when the Wall came down and Yeltsin took the reigns in Russia. However, the Euros enjoyed the military welfare and mission creep set in along the Potomac due to institutional inertia. You can have open borders, or a welfare state, or a worldwide police force, but can't afford more than one. |
