A police chief from Maguindanao province in Mindanao was killed in an ambush, just one day after the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) signed a historic and comprehensive agreement.Senior Superintendent Rodelio Jocson, the provincial police chief, said Inspector Tongian Namla died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds in the ambush staged by still unidentified killers in the town of Datu Sinsuat late on Friday afternoon.
Namla was aboard a motorcycle when the still unidentified gunmen who were riding a truck with no licence plate opened fire. Jocson said his men were still investigating the motive but he noted that in February, a police investigator from the same town was also killed while returning home.
